A family tradition. So delicious! And magical. No one would ever guess how these are made.

Ingredients

Directions

  • crush nilla wafers by putting them in a ziploc bag and squishing them with a rolling pin.
  • chop nuts.
  • mix nuts, powdered sugar, and nilla wafers in a large-ish bowl.
  • melt chocolate chips and corn syrup in a double boiler.
  • pour melted chocolate mix over the wafers/nuts/sugar mix.
  • add rum.
  • mix till it's homogenous (except the nuts, of course). i find it's easiest to use my hands to mix it. at first it won't seem like there's enough fluid, but there is, trust me.
  • here's where the magic happens: let the mix stand for at least 30 minutes. i don't know how it works, but this allows it to set and somehow the nilla wafer crumbs become incorporated with the chocolate and the alcohol.
  • come back and roll the dough/batter into smallish balls, and then coat them in powdered sugar.
  • store in airtight container.
  • munch.
