http://banshee.livejournal.com/499899.html Poor Owen's had bumps and bruises before (toddlerhood...), but tonight he slipped and cut a huge gash in his upper gums on the tv unit. Ow. We were worried he'd lose the nearest tooth, but it doesn't seem to be loose as far as we can tell. Sure looks ugly, though, A millimeter in either direction, and he may have inherited one hell of a gaptoothed grin. Poor kiddo. In happier and more delicious news, I just made a double batch of Family tradition, and best holiday food gift ever. I made a double batch tonight to send away, and more will be made this season, for sure:

Ingredients

Directions

  • Melt butter, sugar, corn syrup, and water in a heavy saucepan until candy thermometer reads 300 degrees, or 'brittle' stage.
  • Quickly remove from heat and stir in almonds.
  • Again, QUICKLY pour mixture onto foil-lined cookie sheet and spread thin.
  • Sprinkle chocolate chips evenly over top, and as they become shiny, spread melted chocolate evenly over brittle.
  • Place sheet in refrigerator to chill for one hour, and then break into chunks. Eat.
  • Eat more.
  • Eat more.
  • Begin to feel a bit queasy.
  • Eat more.
