Ingredients

Directions

  • Take 2-4 bananas and cut them in half lengthwise
  • melt half a stick of butter in a sautee pan or frying pan over medium heat
  • add 1/4 cup of firmly packed brown sugar and mix into the melted butter
  • arrange the banana slices in the butter/brown sugar mixture
  • coat the bananas in the sauce, using a spoon, or shaking or if there is room, turning
  • Sprinkle 1/4 tsp of cinnamon over the bananas
  • Let cook for 2-5 minutes until the bananas looked glazed and soft, but dont' let them get totally mushy. The sauce in the pan will become smooth as the sugar mixes with the juices from the banana
  • When the bananas look soft and glazy, pour 1/4 cup of Rum or Brandy over the bananas and with a long-nosed lighter or long fireplace match, ignite the pan --- FLAMBE!
  • This is quite dramatic and you'll want to invite people to watch this part.
  • Let the alchohol burn itself out. When the flame goes out, it's done.
  • Put 2 bananas on a shallow dish or bowl. Spoon a little bit of the sauce over the bananas (or however much you want) and top with a ball of vanilla ice cream.
